BASICS
Name:
-First: Rick
-Middle: Alexander
-Last: Freedom
Nickname(s): None
Name Background: His first and middle names were given to him by his parents-- who knows what they were thinking? He gave himself his last name because, as he grew older, he became angry with the treatment of mutants. He argued with Darryl Markswell that they should be taking more drastic steps toward FREEDOM. Thus, the name was born.
Age: Twenty-two
Gender: Male
Play-By: Alex Pettyfer

Height: Six-foot-one
Weight: One hundred ninety-three pounds
Build: Muscular but slim
Hair Color: Sandy blond
-Hair Style: Straight and shaggy
Skin: Pale
General Appearance: His always slightly-too-long sandy blond hair falls over his eyes (a dark turquoise) no matter how hard he tries to move it out of the way. His hands are rough and calloused from years of living in the Freedom Fighter caves.
He usually wears jeans (holes in the knees, hems frayed), a t-shirt, and sneakers (which almost always have a coating of mud). “Dressing nice” for Rick involves pulling on a button-down shirt over his tee. The jeans don’t change, nor do the sneakers.

General Personality: Rick’s incredibly hot-headed-- if Lin weren’t there, he probably would have blown up Markswell’s Academy in a fit of rage by now. He’s bold, brash, and isn’t afraid to say what’s on his mind. A lot of the time, he prefers to settle his arguments with his fists instead of his words. (Lin’s lucky. Rick doesn’t hit her, though they do get in their share of arguments.)
He’s cocky and arrogant-- he taunts his opponent before attacking, but it’s a strategy that actually works with him. He’s thick-skinned, so what people say doesn’t really hurt him, but most people go into a rage and act stupid.
He doesn’t let many people get close to him. (Lin’s the only Freedom Fighter who really knows him.)
Quirks/Mannerisms: He paces when frustrated, and tends to swear when he is argued with.
Fear(s): That mutants will never be equal in the eyes of the people
Goal(s) in Life: Get equality for mutants
History
Family
-Mother: Melissa Grace Thorton
-Father: Sean Theodore Thorton
-Sibling(s): None
-Other Important Family Members: None
-Pet(s): None
General History: Abandoned at age six by parents whom he hardly remembers, Rick learned to take care of himself quite quickly. By six-and-a-half, he was a steet performer, juggling flaming sticks for other people’s enjoyment. If he got burned (which rarely happened), he would pretend it hurt, but really just changed the heat energy into kinetic, sending the stick flying back up.
On his seventh birthday, a girl named Julia Schmidtt found him and recognized him as a mutant. Julia was only thirteen, but the half-bird mutant took Rick to Markswell’s Academy and had him show Markswell what he could do. Intrigued, the headmaster agreed to let him stay in an empty professor’s dorm. Julia became his mother, and Markswell became his father. He could never hurt Julia-- he loved her more than his real mother-- but Markswell he argued with constantly.
Ten years later, he graduated top of his class. Later on Graduation Day, Rick and Markswell got in a fight-- the largest yet. At the end of this right, Rick left and founded the Freedom Fighters.
Five years after he left the Academy, the Freedom Fighters have grown to remarkable numbers-- and Rick’s still the head, along with his second-in-command (and only real friend) Lin.
Power: Energy Manupulation
-General Description: Imagine this-- you’re standing before a speeding train about to hit two young children. Oh no! you think, Who will save the children? A boy steps in front of the train, puts out one hand, and the train just… Stops. It doesn’t seem to bother the boy in any way, though he does swivel and shoot a beam of red energy from the palm of his hand.
Generally speaking, Rick can absorb energy-- potential, kinetic, radiant, electrical, doesn’t matter-- and either store it or shoot it out, either in a concentrated beam or just in waves of power. These energy blasts are immensely powerful-- one good hit will knock out a full-grown man.
-Strengths of Power(s) Energy blasts
-Weaknesses of Power(s) If he shoots out more energy than he takes in he gets weak. (Quick fix that never occurs to him-- take in more energy!)
