>>Silvanus Jay Lyle
BASICS
Name:
-First: Silvanus
-Middle: Jay
-Last: Lyle
Nickname(s): Sly, 'Si' (pronounced 'sigh'), or S.J.
Name Background: Silvanus is a name given to him because his parents were strict Roman Catholics who, for whatever reason they may have had, felt Saint Silvanus (also referred to as Saint Silas) was an admirable figure. Silvanus was the name used by Paul so his parents call him Silvanus. Mercifully they allowed him to register in school as Silas. The only reason they allowed it was because in the fifth book of the new testament, 'Acts' they call Silvanus by the name Silas. His middle name, Jay, is a way of commemorating his father who's name is Jerome. Jerome is also a Catholic saint. The name Lyle is a testament to his family's French roots (his paternal grandparents were French immigrants, but his father was born in the U.S.)
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Play-By: Rasmus Ledin
Appearance
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 153 lbs
Build: Moderately athletic
Hair Color: Black
-Hair Style: Thick and intentionally layered jaggedly. It gives the appearance of being unkempt even if he styles it.
Skin: Pale, white complexion. It doesn't hold a tan well.
General Appearance: Silas has light blue eyes, but instead of giving off an icy appearance, they tend to seem as warm and genuine as his smile. His smile is one thing about him that'll stay with you. He's not overly enthusiastic by any physical means- he doesn't smile a toothy or dorky grin, he doesn't sport a Mohawk, he doesn't even wear clothes that'd really catch your attention. But in that subtle way of his, he still seems to effortlessly be the person in the room that you just know you can trust.
Silas hates having his hair long. He actually gets frustrated if it reaches his shoulder blades at it's lowest point. It can cover his ears, but it cannot extend past his ears without him getting annoyed by it so it's rarely, if ever that long.

General Personality: In school he was the quiet, slightly notable kid who rarely said anything that didn't sound rehearsed. He rarely stammered, rarely said the wrong word, and he never acted defiantly. Really, he seemed to show no interest in putting effort toward making friends, but those who wanted to befriend him found him a willing, albeit slightly shy friend to have. Most importantly, he was a straight A honors student who accepted nothing shy of success in himself, no matter the effort that took. If you get close to him then he's confident and caring because he seems to realize that you won't tell his father if he's not as perfect as he tries to be.
Silas, if he's being honest, will admit that he's more comfortable alone or in one-on-one encounters. Crowds put him on edge though he's a very good public speaker. He's articulate, intelligent, composed, and well, he has a lot to say when he does speak. It's practiced over and over before he ever stands up. But get him there in front of you, trying to tell you the same thing without an audience, and he'll either be terribly shy and incapable of saying the right thing, or he'll be nervous that he'll mess up and keep things short.
If there's one thing that gets to Silas, it's being disappointed. He thinks if he keeps people away, maybe he won't feel that pain. Everyone around him obviously has a different way of interpreting and handling things, but few are as analytical as Silas. Few as thorough, as methodical. More often than not, Silas is left disappointed that no one cares quite as much as he always cares. This leads to a lot of pent up resentment and anger. Despite this, overall Silas seems like an optimistic person outwardly.
Quirks/Mannerisms: Silas has tons of quirks. In fact, almost everything he does has a proper way of doing it. If he's going to sleep, he sleeps close to the window and, if possible, away from the door. He will go so far as to move the bed if he's not in his own room or sleep on the floor if he can't move the bed and furniture around. When he's eating something like chips or candy, any 'defective' candy gets eaten first and the perfect ones are saved for last. Colors that appeal to him are eaten last, too. He has a lot more, but he doesn't always adhere to them if he's not in a comfortable environment. They don't really matter to him and if he had to stop one, he'd just think of another. All of it is, to him, a distraction. Leave it to him to think of more ways to be 'perfect'.
Fears: Silas is terrified by the things he thinks because he is fascinated by death. He's the opposite of violent, and yet he often considers what it'd be like to just be impulsive and leap from a building, cliff, or pier It's the ultimate sense of control in life. His own tendency to think that way, to really want to experience things he knows are dangerous, is why he distracts himself with 'rules' in his life. He's not really one to harm himself, he just wants to experience things out of the ordinary, things that will give him an adrenaline rush. He's also terrified of fire and the people that control it, and of drowning.
Goals in Life: His greatest aspiration has always been making his dad proud. He respects and admires the man, but by nature his father wasn't the type to give compliments. It was the usual story. So he decided that if he couldn't gain some sense of acceptance, he'd just follow his father's footsteps and become a political figure himself. So now he works toward being involved in government (which is difficult, considering his ability). In the meantime, he wants someone to pay attention to him and realize he's got potential.
History
Family
-Mother: Cecilia Jane Lyle
-Father: Jerome Jude Lyle
-Sibling(s): None
-Other Important Family Members: None
-Pet(s): He wishes.
General History: Silas was born to a political figure of the state of Virginia. His father, a fairly fanati spent his entire life chasing public acclaim. Needless to say, they were the perfect family. Perfect only child son, perfect wife, and of course Silas' father was the most infallible of any of them. Silas lived up to the pressure, he even seemed to thrive under it, but his mother? His mother wanted to live life in a very free way. She wanted to do as she pleased without her husband believing that there'd be a camera there to catch the slip up. When she married her husband, she never expected that her greatest claim to fame was being the potential senator's wife. But he was a kind man- she had no complaints about him. In a strange way, she rationalized that his father's perfectionism actually made them all better people. He was a devout Catholic (her faith was shaken until she met him) and her best friend in life.
Silas was the quiet, obedient son who idolized both of his parents. countless times he'd been taken to the ballpark with his father for the attention his father would get with his constituents for being a family man. Silas didn't mind- he played baseball with his father and enjoyed it, no matter the motive. With his father, he learned to be articulate and intelligent in the public eye. Often he'd stand in front of a mirror, repeating things he may need to say until he knew every word and the exact reason for saying it. He analyzed each sentence, down to the syllable of each individual word to ensure nothing was hard to say under the pressure, and nothing could be misconstrued because it'd look bad for his father. Each day he left the house, he generally strove for perfection in everything he did, because only then could his dad really be proud.
When he got invited to Markswell, his father insisted that he was invited to a prestigious school Nothing about his ability, just that it was something to be proud of and that though it was hard, he was willing to send his son off for the sake of his education.
Power: Dream manipulation
-General Description: Silas is able to enter a person's dream and manipulate aspects of it from the creatures to the appearance of the dreamer, to the structures the dreamer has thought of. Also an aspect of his power; he doesn't sleep himself.
-Strengths of Power He's able to tell a lot about people- sometimes their fears, sometimes their aspirations, sometimes just everyday secrets that they won't verbally admit to while awake. It's all in the things they include in their dreams and the way he sees them react to those things. And his mind is wired different- when his power manifested, he stopped producing melatonin. This essentially meant that he no longer slept. While he could, he had no biological need to. He now has to take melatonin supplements (his parents insist) to help him get to and stay asleep.
-Weaknesses of Power He cannot compel a person to act in a dream. It's not possible. And changing himself in a dream requires more effort than anything. It's not impossible but everything he does with his power seems to tap into a reserve of his own ability's energy- changing anything about his appearance in a dream drains it much, much faster. He hasn't figured out how to restore this 'energy' yet, so he's cautious with his power. Meaning he'll only use his power sparingly so that it has adequate time to replenish. If he runs out, he'll pass out and run a fever.
