Boring, boring, boring-- I know. But it's both necessary and relatively painless, as well as being a required read before you start RPing.
-If you make an account, filling out a profile application would be nice. We don't take kindly to people who make accounts, but don't even bother to say hello.
-We all have lives, sadly. Which also means that I, the admin, understand that you may get busy every once and a while. I will, too-- but it'd be great that if you're going a way or a while, if you could leave a note in the 'vacation' board-- whether if you're leaving permanently, or for a few days. Just be sure to check in every few days if school or life is getting hectic, okay?
-If you make an account, fill out the application-- and go inactive for over two months without a notice: Your account will be deleted, and your application will be moved to the adoption board. No hard feelings, it's just that we don't want twenty active members, and a hundred inactive ones cluttering up the site.
- God-Modding: Which is making your character(s) invincible or all-powerful.
- Power-Play: Which is controlling another player's character without their permission.
- Double-Posting: This is when you make two consecutive posts in a row. Instead of doing this, you should edit your previous post and make a note to the person(s) you are role-playing with in the c-box or in PM.
An example of these would be...
- God-Modding...
Player One: Mary, with a desperate glance at the sky-- took one huge breath before unleashing an explosive final stand of flames-- which enveloped both her and the area around her for at least several hundred feet.
Player Two: Gary dodged her attack 'cause he was so fast. Then, before she could react-- Gary lunged at her and began punching her furiously over and over without stopping, knowing that the force of these punches were certainly fatal.
See what player-two did there? He made his character seemingly like a 'god', being able to dodge an attack that is seemingly impossible to dodge. Then, he attacked 'Mary' without giving her a chance to decide whether the punches land or not, and noting that they were fatal punches-- which would always be up to Player-One to decide whether they were fatal or not. Now this was an extreme exaggeration, and a less extreme one will be harder to notice/pick out from a crowd. Just check yourself every so often, that in battle or not-- your character doesn't seem too perfect or invincible.
- Power-Play...
Player One: Mary walks calmly into the room and pauses, lost in thought-- just about to open a door to another room.
Player Two: Gary suddenly appears and opens the door for her. He gave a slight bow, and smiled faintly when he heard her begin to giggle. When she said thank you, his smile turned into a grin-- and he responded, "You're welcome, m'lady."Then she kissed him on the cheek and was gone.
See what player-two did there? He controlled Mary without Player-One's permission. Ontop of that, there was nothing to even suggest that Player-One's character might have been attracted to Player Two's Character. Controlling another player's character is strictly forbidden. It may even be as subtle as this...
It's so subtle, most people wouldn't notice it, but there was nothing to suggest that Mary let her fear (if any) show-- however natural it might be to assume it. For all we know, Mary's hands could be shaking because she's cold. ...however unlikely that would be in the middle of a battle--but still, you get the point.
- Double Posting...
Player One: Mary smiled.
Player Two: Gary scowled.
Player Two: Oh, yeah-- It was impossible for Gary to keep his scowl at her beaming face, and seconds afterward-- he burst into a grin.
NO. No, no, no, no. I'm sorry, but as insignificant as this seems-- it is dire that you do not double post. When Player Two posted twice in a row, that was double posting. Not only does it clutter up the form, it annoys me. It can easily be solved, a situation like that-- all you need to do is modify your previous post to add onto the situation.
------------Moving onto more RP rules...
-This site has a word-count of 200. This means it is required for each post you make, you must have at least 200 words total. This really isn't that hard, and is really only a good paragraph or so. This rule does not apply to boards where you are out of character. I will not go around and count every single one of your posts, and if every once and a while your posts don't quite reach 200, that's okay. Remember: the more, the better!
-This is a ProBoards site, and therefore under ProBoards official rules and regulations, there will be no RP of: sex, assuage of drugs, or alcohol. This also goes for in signitures, avatars, and the like. While this is a real-life based RP, I understand that it will be realistic to have these things mentioned. But while you may reference or imply them, you cannot do them. If you really must get reeeeaally cozy with another player, please say something along these lines when it gets really vivid:
"And then they played some scrabble."
Get it? If you must RP it out every word for word-- please take it to email, as RPing the previously mentioned articles in any sort of ProBoards branch is strictly forbidden. Long story short: Keep it PG-13. So while you might get a little too close for comfort, just don't cross the line to Mature/R-- and you'll be fine.
-Keep the swearing to a minimum. We may have some younger viewers, and we don't want to go poisoning the younger generation, now do we? Swearing to a minimum would be at max two censored words to each post. Ontop of that, you can also have:
"He swore violently."
As that is not really cursing.
-If for some reason you're feeling angry at the world, please think before logging on to the site. We don't need unnecessary fights; remember, this site is to be used for fun. If you simply must fight with someone, don't do it in a c-box or in a thread-- try to keep it to PM if you absolutely MUST fight with another member.
-Please be respectful to all members, and most importantly-- staff. If you disagree with something a staff-member says, please be respectful about it when responding. This goes for all regular members too. If you have a disagreement with a particular staff-member, and want to get a mediator/report it, please PM the head-admin (me).
-If you wish to make a comment while role-playing, please write the note in parenthesis and at the top of the post.
-There is no set maximum onto how many accounts you can have. Just keep every account active in role-play, and you can have twenty accounts for all I care. However, if it gets out of hand: I will set a limit. We can't have five members and fifty accounts.
-One character per account, please.
-When your character has been accepted, please change your display name to that character's name. Your username can be ilovehannahmontana for all I care, just as long as you have your display name correctly done.
-While we all know that the c-box is fun, it should not be the reason you joined the site. Feel free to chat, but you should spend more time RPing, rather than chatting. Chatting while waiting for threads to be replied to is perfectly okay.
-Like before, this is a ProBoards site, and therefore under ProBoards official rules and regulations, there will be no MENTION of sex, assuage of drugs, or alcohol. At all. Period.
-The chat-box, (c-box), is meant mainly for chatting. Not role-playing. Please keep that to a minimum, or in PM.
And there you have it! The rules of Mutants-Galore! That wasn't so bad, was it? It was? Oh, sorry. Well, at least you don't ever have to read them again! Go fill out that application now!
