General Appearance: James has never cared much about his appearance, preferring to spend his time getting things done instead of primping. If he ever wears a tie, it's looped casually around his neck, never for a formal event. His looks aren't very important to him.
However, he does wear many dark blue and dark grey shirts, and always wears pants with several pockets. This helps him blend in with the shadows (contrary to popular belief, plain black clothing only makes one stand out), and the pockets are perfect for containing the treasures from his thefts. Overall, his wardrobe and thin frame, coupled with his dark hair and eyes, gives him an ideal "thief" appearance.

General Personality:
Outwardly, James is a very quiet, almost cold, person. He tends to keep to himself, and holds others at least an arm's length away, emotionally speaking. As a free-lance thief, he takes what he needs for himself and sells the rest to the highest bidder. He doesn't care who "wins" or "loses" as long as he makes out all right in the end. His speech, when he opens his mouth, is often to-the-point and occasionally sarcastic.
Those who know him better, though, see an entirely new side out of the public eye. James is very creative, and loves to let his ideas flow, though he'll only reveal them to those few that he trusts completely. He has a talent for drawing and writing, and enjoys having a bit of quiet time to himself to practice. The boy does have a soft spot for children, and helps them when he can spare the money.
Despite his first and middle names being Biblical references, James is conflicted when it comes to his religion. His mother taught him Catholicism from a young age, and while he believes in God (or some similar sort of higher being), he has issues accepting some parts of the religion. In addition, one of the Ten Commandments directly forbids theft, so accepting every aspect of the religion would mean knowingly breaking a Commandment each day. He may whisper a prayer in a time of need, but other than that, his religion is a sore spot for him, and he prefers to behave as though his mother's lessons never got through to him.

James was taught from birth that God comes first in life. His mother taught him the Our Father and Hail Mary prayers before he knew any nursery rhymes, and he could recite the Nicene Creed before he'd even heard the Pledge of Allegiance. As he grew older, though, he became aware of the war raging around him, and when his powers revealed themselves shortly after his twelfth birthday, he was forced into it whether he liked it or not.
Only a year after his powers appeared, his father died of cancer. Left with only his mother, who viewed his powers as a violation of nature, and his brother and sister, who had not yet displayed any supernatural signs, James left home when he was fourteen years old. Without his mother's support, however, he soon found himself on the streets, trying desperately to support himself without joining either side of the fight. Finally he turned to theft, and despite several close calls, he gradually honed his skills.
Now at age seventeen, James lives alone, seeking shelter wherever he can find it. He steals for food and money, as well as objects that he can sell. He's had no contact with his family since he left home, almost four years ago. Right now, his main priority in life is to keep his freedom. Whatever happens, he will not take a side in the war, though he may help those whose interests would best serve him.

Though he has no wings, James has the power of flight, a bit like Peter Pan. Because of this, he is very light and built very thin. He also uses this to improve his acrobatic skills, since a backflip is much easier when you control how long you're in the air.
